Beti Bachao Beti Padhao Scheme :
Beti Bachao Beti Padhao scheme was successfully launched by the Hon’ble Prime Minister of India Shri Narendra Modi on 22nd of January in 2015 at Panipat, Haryana.
Beti Bachao Beti Padhao is a nationwide government social scheme launched purposefully in order to address the gender imbalance and discrimination against girl child in the Indian society. Their was utter need to address the issue of decreasing girl child ratio in the society as well as empowering girl child in the country. This scheme is to make people aware of the importance of girl child in the Indian society as well as bring some positive changes in the people mindset towards girl child. People should celebrate the birth of their girl child and educate them with full responsibility as they do for their boy child. .Girls occupy almost half population of the world so they are half responsible for the existence of life on the earth. Less importance of girl child in the human society is causing suspense of life existence on the earth as where there is no women, no new birth would be. The continuous decrease in the ratio of girl child per boy child is clearing this issue very well. So, this scheme has been launched by keeping in mind to prevent sex determination, female foeticide, save girl child, ensure safety of girl child, as well as provide quality education to them.
The 100 districts have been identified on the basis of low Child Sex Ratio as per Census 2011 covering all States/UTs as a pilot with at least one district in each state. iii) The criteria/norms for selection/identification of 100 districts under the Beti Bachao Beti Padao programe are as under :- Page 3 of 99 87 Districts have been selected from 23 States/UTs having Child Sex Ratio below the National average of 918. 8 Districts have been selected from 8 States/UTs having Child Sex Ratio above National average of 918 but showing declining trend 5 Districts have been selected from 5 States/UTs having Child Sex Ratio above National average of 918 and showing improving trend so that other parts of country can been learn from them
The Overall Goal of the Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao(BBBP) Scheme is to Celebrate the Girl Child & Enable her Education . The objectives of the Scheme are as under :- Prevent gender biased sex selective elimination Ensure survival & protection of the girl child Ensure education of the girl child
The Beti Bachao Beti Padhao (BBBP) initiative has two major components. i) Mass Communication Campaign and ii) Multi-sectoral action in 100 selected districts (as a pilot) with adverse CSR, covering all States and UTs.
